Welcome to Ashley Hoskins Photography. If you knew my company as Blackbird Photography there is no need to worry, you are in the right place. I have made the change from Blackbird Photography to Ashley Hoskins Photography so that I will be easier to find for my clients. Nothing but the name has changed. You will still get the same personal attention and creative visual images that you are looking for!

At Ashley Hoskins Photography, it is my aim to take care of you in the best way possible. I want to capture the moments of your special day in a way that is fun, relaxed, and real.

julie and todd. knoxville wedding

a couple weeks ago i had the privilege of photographing julie and todd's wedding. as most of you know we had the coldest february ever pretty much, so when i saw that the forecast for julie and todd's february 20th wedding was 50 degrees and sunny, i was extactic. it really was such a beautiful day. the wedding took place at the beautiful st. john's lutherin church and then the reception was at holston hills. they both were just perfect places for a february wedding. julie and todd began dating in high school, so their day was very sweet. there is just something so special about seeing a couple get married that has been together for so long, and really really knows and loves each other. julie and todd, i am so happy for the both of you and thank you so much for allowing me to capture your day.

now, on to some photos of their day!

whitney and tristan. knoxville wedding

so i will admit it, i am horrible at blogging and even worse at new years resolution. although i do have an excuse, it still doesn't really make up for it. i have been working like crazy to get my little studio all set up and i just haven't really had time for anything else. needless to say, it is finally almost done and i can have a life again. i will say that it looks pretty awesome and as soon as it is totally finished i will be posting a ton of photos! believe it or not, i did shoot a wedding a couple weeks ago and am just now getting around to blogging it. i had the absolute pleasure of shooting an old friend of mine's wedding at the emporium downtown. her name is whitney and owns salon W in west knoxville. you should totally go check it out. really cute salon with some amazing hair stylist! :) i actually got the call to shoot this wedding from another friend of mine, elizabeth, who happens to be whitney's best friend, about 5 days before the wedding! i will say, you would have never known that it was planned in such a short period of time. it was just such a fun, laid back, amazing day.

whitney and tristan, i had such a great time capturing the love and joy of your wedding day. i wish you both all the best in the world! here are a couple of my favs.

like i said, whitney is a hair stylist and her son had to get a little trim for the big day. how cute is he!

these two might be a couple of my favorites from the whole day. it was so sweet to see how excited whitney's son was to see tristan.

whitney has always been just so beautiful.

so this might be one of my favorite first dance shots ever! i love the back lighting and of course the sweet expressions on their faces

the reception was really dark, so sometimes, you just have to embrace the grain!

THIS was awesome. they surprised tristan by pulling out an old video of him dancing to footloose when he was little and played it during the mother/son dance. he was clearly shocked!

and not only can tristan dance, but he can sing. he sang frank sinatra's "fly me to the moon" to whitney on their first date......so she made him do it again at the reception. she thanked him for it :)

lane and bill. wedding

lane and bill got married on january 9th at the beautiful greystone presbytirian chruch. i had attented a wedding there a few years ago and just thought it was the perfect church for a wedding. beautiful stone, stained glass, center aisle, perfect sized....well, it turned out to be really perfect with a little snow dusted on the ground! while everyone else in knoxville was freaking out about the weather, i was just hoping that the snow would stick around for a little bit for this perfect little january wedding!! well, the ground wasn't covered, it still turned out to be the perfect touch to their sweet day.

lane and bill are such a sweet couple! i didn't get to spend a ton of time with them before the wedding but just felt so priviledged to be able to capture the sweet love that they have for one another. bill is in the military and is being deployed in june so it was just so fun to be around all their friends and family before he leaves. here are just some of my favorites from their wedding!

LOVE these next three. lane's mom had made a garter out of her maid of honor's bridesmaid dress, and a charm from the first piece of jewelry lane's father had ever given her. i'll admit it, i cried too. it's ok, i'm pretty sure my sister did too!

and here is the garter.

this was pretty awesome too. kimball's jewelers had given this to lane's mom to wear on her wedding day. so lane wore this in her shoe. lane's mom still had the box!

lawrie and ross. knoxville wedding.

soooooo, i have been trying to post this blog for at least a week. i have attempted it from knoxville, from cincinnati, from new york city, and now from woodstock, ny...........i have just not had ANY luck. so, here we go again. giving this another shot!

i had the privilege of shooting ross and lawrie's wedding a few weeks ago at church street united methodist church downtown. i was so excited to be able to shoot at such an amazingly beautiful church. everything from the architecture to the lighting was just beautiful that day. lawrie was such a perfect bride. she was sweet, calm, and so excited to marry ross. ross was easy going, kind, and so excited to marry lawrie. i felt so honored to be a part of their day. here are some of my favorite images from the day.

there is just something about this next photo that i LOVE. i just think that lawrie looks so beautiful here.

i loved these intimate shots of lawrie and her father before she walked down the aisle.

lawrie and ross chose not to see each other before the wedding, which is totally fine with me. i really don't need a really long time to get some great shots as long as you are willing to be quick. it actually worked it really well i think because we got to play with the dramatic lighting outside of the church which made for some really different shots than i normally take. i love this next one.

but i think this one might be my favorite

i mean serious, how cute are they??!!!

wahooooooo!!! we made it through!! ross and lawrie, you are so awesome. thank you so much for letting me be a part of your awesome, special wedding.

mary beth and chad. knoxville wedding.

i can't even tell you how much fun i had going through these photos. you are getting ready to see one happy bride. i knew after i shot mary beth and chad's engagement photos, that shooting their wedding was going to be amazing. mary beth is absolutely stunning and incredible in front of the camera. it was really hard not to get a great shot of mary beth all day because she was just so happy! she had a smile on her face from beginning to end. chad is so fun, and so sweet and was so excited to marry mary beth. i originally picked out, oh 78 images to blog, seriously, but just can't do that so i have picked just SOME of my favorites and then also made a slideshow. now, on to the photos!

this girl is famous for her eyelashes....can you see why??

LOVE this casual pic of the groomsmen. they just look so cool

their ceremony was so sweet. and we had AMAZING light during it.

ok, can we say favorite after ceremony shot EVER!! this was taken by my 2nd shooter allie. SOOO glad she was there for that moment. she said as soon as they got to the hallway he just grabed her and kissed her. i LOVE IT!!

mmmmmmm.....yummy light, beautiful couple. what else could you want??!!

allie got this shot as well, LOVE IT!
